Why The Styled Corner Exists
Origin Story
When coming up with this idea, I always knew I wanted to work within interior design or home decor. It was the matter of fact how you can come up with something that hasn’t been done too many times. Something unique and interesting to people that wouldn’t usually be interested. One day while deciding what decor should go into my sisters new apartment, it sparked the idea to make a curated kit for the people who aren’t as creative as I am. A guide of decor or DIY elements that show exactly how to style and decorate a space. Specially curated décor kits that you can use easily and affordably.
With the idea to help people decorate their homes without having to hire an interior decorator or decide the decor on their own, The Styled Corner was born. With a lot of trial and error and decisions for the design and data of the company, it can now be up and running.
Customer Connection with Décor Kits
With the target audience of The Styled Corner kits being people with less creative and decorating skills, I don’t really connect with them. I do, however, connect with the age frame of this audience. Young new homeowners and renters who need help but also need easy, non-permanent solutions.
I was able to gather opinions and data from my two roommates, who don’t have the creative eye and are also currently living at a non-permanent residence, such as an apartment. Since that apartment is also mine, we have created DIY elements and used easy-to-put-up, take-down decor. I have heard some positive feedback from the two of them, especially when it comes to seasonal decor.
Challenges of Curated Décor
One huge obstacle that I have faced during the creation of this venture is the time constraints. Since it is specially curated décor kits, having to specially curate the decor that goes into each kit is time-consuming, especially if it were just me creating it. Because of that, I had to decide to have the same decor in each of the same themed kits and just have the one I made copied. This will save time and enable us to get the product out to the customers faster.
Values and Vision

Core values
- Simplicity– not stressful or complicated
- Authenticity– unique decor in real homes for real people
- Accessibility– affordable and achievable
I hope to create a more approachable aspect towards design. People sometimes get discouraged or uncomfortable when they have the pressure of picking out decor for their homes. They don’t want to be the deciding factor or pick something that others won’t admire. Even though your home should be designed for you, we really design it for our guests. Everyone who decorates their home thinks about what guests will think when they come over. These curated décor kits make it easy and obtainable to impress their guests. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/973410906968174362/
A Look Ahead
Timeline
- Month 1–2: final kit refinements
The first couple of months will be used to perfect small things about each kit. It will also be used to figure out shipping and handling, as some kits will need bigger boxes than others.
- Month 2–3: pilot test with real customers
We will want to give a prototype of a couple of kits we will want to launch at first, to close family friends, to test. See how they like the kits and get some positive or negative feedback, to then change what we need to.
- Month 3–5: soft launch + content buildout
As we launch The Styled Corner, we will need to post plenty of content to showcase the kits. TikToks and Instagram posts showcasing the product and how easy it is to install/ use.
- Month 5–6: seasonal kit expansion
Once The Styled Corner has taken off and is successful, we will then expand into the seasonal kits for subscription. This will keep loyal customers coming back and will be popular kits that most customers would be interested in.
